Dates to 1910. This rifle features the octagonal number 3 barrel with a dovetailed ivory bead front sight, a folding single leaf rear sight with white triangle, two barrel mounted scope mounts, left side Winchester barrel address with the May 28, 1907 as last patent date. The Winchester tang has the "PAT. OCT. 7TH, 79" legend. The deluxe walnut stock has H pattern hand checkering on pistol grip and forearm with a Winchester cap and rifle butt plate. Double set triggers with the elongated trigger guard. Finish is blue. With forearm removed, the following stamps are visible: "3", "C", a diamond, "VP" in oval and "32-40". The forearm sports a custom plate, most likely for a palm rest. The piano finished walnut appears to be of 3x quality with breath taking grain. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains about 97% blue showing areas of minor high edge wear and few handling marks. The frame is about a 50/50 blend of blue and patina. Stocks are excellent with nominal impressions. Mechanically sound, set triggers work. Bore is sharp. A lovely rifle in a great caliber.
