This attractive example of a special order deluxe 1885 was shipped March 20, 1890. It sports a No. 3 octagon to round barrel finished in high polish blue. Factory wind gauge front sight and mid-range rear tang sight, no barrel mounted rear sight or dovetail present. Case hardened high wall receiver with single set trigger. Deluxe checkered walnut forend with ebony inlaid Schnabel tip. Matching checkered pistol grip stock of outstanding figure with double line cheek piece and silver plated Swiss butt plate. Lower receiver tang is stamped with "2912 XXX SBC" assembly number, wood grade, and special feature notation. Matching "2912" assembly numbers also present in the stock channel, underside of the butt plate, and on the butt plate screws. Included factory research confirms all options excluding the set trigger. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains nearly all of its professionally reapplied lustrous blue with some freckling towards the muzzle and silvering along the high edges, among a few other light marks. Case colors remain strong and bright with some muting along the edges and a few minor oxidation spots. Stocks are very fine with only light handling. Nearly all of the toned silver plating is present on the butt plate with faint wear at the high points. Crisp, bright bore with some areas of spotting. Fine mechanics. Set trigger in order at the time of cataloging.
