This seldom seen factory 15" carbine shipped November 5, 1895. Despite being lightest and smallest of the cataloged 1885s, it is believed only around 250 were produced. The blued barrel is fitted with pinned German silver blade front sight and ladder rear. Case hardened low wall frame with saddle ring. Plain walnut carbine style forend. Walnut stock with period carved "PC" initials on the right and a pair of later added military-style cartouches on the left. Fitted with a case hardened carbine butt plate. Lot is accompanied by 1992 and 2007 dated factory letters as well as an ATF letter exempting this gun by serial number from the provisions of the NFA. CONDITION: Fine as restored. Barrel retains nearly all of its expertly reapplied blue with a few freckles. Reapplied case colors are strong and bright with some fading on the lever. Forend has some impressions and spots of finish loss. Repaired splits present on the stock wrist along with other scattered marks and some chipping at the toe. Defined bore with abrasions and a bulge near the muzzle. Fine mechanics.
