Circa 1924. Blued nickel steel barrel fitted with sling eye, Lyman hunting front sight, and U-notch rear. Deluxe checkered walnut splinter forearm with ebony inlaid Schnabel tip. Nicely figured and deluxe checkered stock with straight grip, period recoil pad, and sling eye. "205" assembly number present on receiver tang, the stock channel blank. Assembly number is likely on the butt under the pad. There are two filled tap holes on rear right side of frame for a receiver sight. CONDITION: Fine. Rifle retains the vast majority of its factory blue with some fading, especially on the magazine where some freckling is also present. Handling marks throughout. Stocks are very good with expected impressions and some surface spotting. Recoil pad has crystalized and is chipping. Crisp, bright bore. Fine mechanics. A nice example of an iconic big bore Winchester, a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt.
