Manufactured in 1956. The frame is masterfully engraved with gold squirrels on left side and gold rabbits on right, both within wood scene vignettes and American scroll as seen on page 258 of Winchester Engraving book. The animal figures are gold bas relief. Frame features gold borders, serial numbers, trigger, barrel wedding bands, screws, and plunger head. There is wonderful engraving on barrel breech, muzzle, upper tang and trigger guard. The walnut stocks are carved in the Winchester D style with oak leaves. The pistol grip wears a Winchester cap. Features a checkered steel butt plate, dovetailed front sight, flat top sporting rear sight with blue finish. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains virtually all of its custom finish. Wood exhibits XXX quality with some light handling marks and stock impressions. Mechanically sound. Bore is bright. An absolutely stunning rifle.
