The Volcanic pistol-carbine was first advertised in 1857 and saw very limited production by the Volcanic Repeating Arms Co., estimated at around 300 units. This example has been assembled from a brass Navy Model pistol frame with added "39" on the belly. The replica fluted pistol-carbine barrel is marked on the top right flat with 3-line Volcanic Repeating Arms address. Small blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear. Grips are smooth walnut and are stamped with matching "39" on the undersides. Carbine is complete with a nicely tiger striped stock with brass crescent butt plate, a matching "39" present on the lug. CONDITION: Good. Barrel displays the majority of its fading browned finish. Frame has rich, darkened patina with some age spotting. Grips show some heavy heavy use. Stock is good with impressions throughout. Defined, frosted bore. Fine mechanics.
