Manufactured by Winchester as a purpose built line throwing gun for the Naval Co. of Doylestown, Pennsylvania based on the Model 37 action with a reinforced smoothbore barrel. Barrel is marked with Winchester legend, "-LINE GUN-45-70 BLANK ONLY-", "BRIDGER", and "NAVAL CO." stamps. Barrel is also mounted with a Naval Co. spool canister with line. The walnut forend is fitted for the canister. Standard walnut stock with slip over rubber butt pad. Housed in a custom wood transit chest with 10 weighted projectiles, a blank, and other tools. CONDITION: Good. Gun retains the vast majority of its blued finish with areas of toned thinning and oxidation spotting. Stocks appear refreshed with a few light marks. Bore is bright with mild evidence of use. Fine mechanics. Case displays well.
