The final configuration for regular production C96 carbines with examples are known in the 900-1100 serial number range. The tapered blued barrel is fitted with a ramped blade front sight. 500 meter tangent rear. Breech is marked with 3-line "WAFFENFABRIK / MAUSER / OBERNDORF A/N". Double crown "U" proof obscured by the forend. Small ring hammer. 2-line address marked on the right side of the frame. Schnabel tipped walnut forend with sling swivel retainer. Detachable walnut stock mounted with rear sling swivel and a checkered butt plate with Masuer "MW" monogram. Matching numbers observed on the barrel, frame, trigger group, locking block, bolt, bolt release, hammer, forend lug, forend, and stock lug. CONDITION: Good. Significant portions of fading blue are retained with some freckling. Nitre blue remains strong with the majority retained on the small parts. Stocks have impressions throughout, some rather deep, along with some adhesive residue. Butt plate has insect holes and some chipping along the edges. Crisp, bright bore. Fine mechanics.
