Perhaps the most iconic and eye catching piece of Winchester advertising, these Double "W" boards were produced circa 1897 and distributed to dealers. This example is numbered on the reverse "245". "WINCHESTER / REPEATING ARMS CO." is printed at the top in bolt red lettering on the rich green background. Just below, a central lithograph by A.B. Frost shows a pair of North Woods hunters with their bear is flanked by a mallard drake and bull moose. The iconic Double "W" is formed from Winchester's line of ammunition. In total 200 shells, 13 bullets, and 9 primer tins are nicely arrayed. Several shells, including a .45 Sharps, appear to be replacements with 2 additional shot shells and 2 bullets missing. Board is framed in simple painted wood. Backing retains the original label, now somewhat weathered. Overall approximately 50 - 1/2" x 33". CONDITION: Good. Board retains good color. Some areas of discoloration present, along with chipping, flaking and other marks. Cartridges show age, a few with dents. Several shot shells have chipping. Board would benefit from a professional cleaning and restoration. A fantastic, easy to display companion piece for any fine collection of Winchester rifles.
