This imposing large bore revolver features an octagonal barrel integrally forged with an 8 - 3/8" bowie bayonet blade and marked on the left flat "DUMONTHIER / B.S.G.D.S.". Built on a large frame with 6-shot cylinder, the cylinder proofed with a lion head and 1810-1879 French Sailleville boxed "E". Fitted with a smooth horn grip with lanyard loop. Revolver is accompanied by a period Eley Bros. tin of 12mm Lefaucheux ammunition with intact label. 33 rounds are included, some of which are marked with Eley headstamps. CONDITION: Good. Revolver displays a brown gray patina throughout with some evidence of older oxidation spotting. Grip is very good with a few nicks and a hairline split at the pommel. Well defined, frosted bore. Fine mechanics.
