Receiver dates to 1941. Never a standard catalog caliber. According to "Rifleman's Rifle", page 245, Winchester tracked the pre war type 1 rifle frame serial numbers and recorded 13, 283 as non standard items and another 2090 type 2 1946-1948 models were further recorded. With stock removed, base of barrel stamped "CM, (triangle), .218B, 38". The .218 Bee barrel stamp is a single die. The follower is that of a .22 Hornet and the spring is the specialized .22 Hornet wire type. Pre-War features include safety and stripper clip cut. Standard features include blue finish, hooded ramp front sight , semi buckhorn rear sight, walnut stock with checkered pistol grip, straight comb, checkered steel butt plate and swivels. Bolt has matching etched serial number. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal retains nearly all its blue finish with minor handling marks. Wood is fine showing scattered light impressions. Mechanically sound. Bore is bright.
CORRECTION: Trigger guard and floor plate have been refinished.
