(M) CSMC FOX FE GRADE .410 SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN

A.H. Fox FE Grade 410 and 20 bore two-barrel ejector gun made by CSMC. Both sets of barrels are 26” in length. The .410 bore barrels are choked Modified and Improved Modified while the 20 bore barrels are choked Modified and Full. Length of pull is 14 - 3/8” to a fleur-de-lis checkered butt. English stock, gold plated double triggers on a scalloped boxlock action, auto-safety, hold open top lever, raised matted rib with white mid and front beads, and a semi-beavertail forend. Gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the safety catch and serial number on the bottom strap, the water table, and the inside of the forend iron. Maker’s name in banners on both sides of the action. Gold inlaid lightning bolts on breech wedges and four gold inlaid diamonds on both side of the hinge pin and the top lever. CSMC A.H. Fox hangtag on the gun. The barrels are read “MADE TO ORDER A.H. FOX” and “CHROMOX FLUID STEEL” in gold inlay. The gun is housed in the maker’s leather case with an oil bottle, cleaning rods, mop, jag, brass brush, and copies 2015 CSMC catalog page listing prices of the various Fox gun grades on offer. The 20 bore barrels do not fit in the case. Engraved with scroll and game scene cameos of a setter on the right side and a pointer on the left side, both gold inlaid, a fox with a flushing ruffed grouse in a woodland setting on the underside, and a flying duck on the trigger guard. Engraved water table and inside of the forend iron. Case color hardened action and top lever. Blued trigger guard and safety catch. Exhibition grade walnut stock with FE Grade ribbon and fleur-de-lis checkering on the wrist, forend, and panels behind the action. CONDITION: Excellent overall. The bores and bluing on 28 bore barrels rates excellent. Some oxidation on the 20 bore barrels and in right bore. The lump and ejectors of the 20 bore barrels also shows some oxidation. There is a small chip on the rear right side of the forend. Essentially no wear to bluing on the action and the bottom strap. Checkering remains crisp and original. Stock shows minimal signs of use and remains in excellent condition. Top lever right of center, on face, and ejectors in time with both sets of barrels. A nimble high grade small bore Fox gun with the versatility that comes with a two-barrel set.
