Circa 1952. White composite Bradley style front bead with matching composite mid bead on a matte vent rib. Browning legends for a Belgian made 12 gauge Browning with 2 - 3/4" chambers, St. Louis, Missouri information, Special Steel designation, and patents. Browning sliding forearm of nicely marbled walnut with point pattern checkering about a Deely latch release. Matching serial number on left side of bottom chamber, and "*" and "*-" designations for Full over Improved Modified chokes. Lightly engraved with scrollwork and stiffleaf borders on iron and wings. Action engraved in the famed fighting cocks pattern, which depicts a pair of roosters engaged in combat in a pastoral scene, while other birds look on on the left side, a covey of pheasant on left, and a bright-eyed pointer with a pheasant in his mouth on the bottom. Scenes are supported by nicely cut small format scroll and heart borders. The game scenes of birds are signed by Funke on the bottom. Single trigger, non-automatic safety with "S" ahead of slide, "O" and "U" abutting for barrel selector positions. Round knob long tang stock of a light, honey colored walnut with a ripple grain and fiddleback, especially towards butt. Sidepanels, Prince of Wales grip with modified point pattern checkering about the wrist, and black rubber Decelerator recoil pad. CONDITION: Barrels with nearly all of a very good quality reblue, with some very minor thinning where forearm reciprocates along barrels, and a small grouping of impressions on left side with blue in them. Forearm very good with some handling marks and impressions, one stable repaired chip at fang on left side of latch. Action gently polished with some very thin surface mossing, engraving very slightly softened. Buttstock excellent with some scattered handling marks and impressions. Mechanically fine, bores excellent, bright and shiny with a few striations from firing. Ejectors are strong and in time.
