According to the Colt Factory archive letter, this gun was shipped with a 7 - 1/2" barrel. The finish was blue and the grips were not listed. It was shipped to Whitney Sporting Goods Company in Denver, Colorado on March 31, 1922. In a shipment of one gun. The Colt Factory order number is #3752/1. Single line address on top of the barrel, "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Caliber designation on the left side of the barrel, "RUSSIAN AND B/ S&W SPECIAL / .44". Two line patent dates and the Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers on the frame, backstrap and the trigger guard. According to the book, The 36 Calibers of Colt by David M Brown, there was only 24 of these guns made in this configuration. CONDITION: This gun retains the vast majority of the factory applied blue finish. There is some slight blue loss on the barrel and the front and rear grip straps are thinning. There is a turn line on the cylinder. Case color on the frame and hammer in the protected areas. The checkering on the grips is sharp and crisp. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves.
