Per the included factory letter, the serial number was applied to this rifle on December 28, 1895, received in the warehouse April 18, 1896, and finally shipped out November 29, 1898. The blued octagon barrel is rollmarked with standard 2-line address and "45-90 W.C.F." caliber designation. Dovetailed German silver blade front sight and semi-buckhorn rear. Case hardened solid frame. Stocks are plain walnut with case hardened nose cap and crescent rifle butt plate. Factory letter confirms configuration. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel and magazine tube retain approximately 95% of their factory blue with some thinning and wear, especially along the high edges and underside of the tube. Hanger shows toning. Case colors are strong and bright on the sides with some fading on the underside of the frame and lever. Some mild cleaned spotting present. Loading gate also displays the vast majority of its nitre blue. Stocks fit well and remain proud to metal. Some scattered impressions and a few dings present. Nose cap retains patterning, colors largely muted. Butt plate colors somewhat stronger with some evidence of cleaned oxidation spotting around the edges. Especially fine, mirror bore. Crisp mechanics. A fantastic '86 in a great caliber.
