Overall length: 47 - 1/2". Barrel length: 31". An extremely rare and unusual combination by prominent Philadelphia maker "John Krider, Philadelphia" and so marked on top of the rifle barrel. Both back-action locks are marked "J. Krider". All metal parts, including the cap-box are highly engraved and are made of polished iron. The under barrel is exceptionally unique, having a triangular bore, apparently designed to fire three balls (.36 cal.) behind a much larger ball, acting as a buck and ball" effect. The highly figured walnut buttstock has fine checkering on the wrist and an ovalized cheekpiece. All metal surfaces have a mottled gray-brown color. This is one of only two currently known.
