Overall length: 52". Barrel length: 36 - 1/2". A unique double barrel shotgun with London marked barrels and converted to percussion locks, both engraved Smith. Most unusual is the "solid silver" mounted four-piece patchbox with seven piercings, all of which is in the manner of the Upper Susquehanna Kentucky rifle-making school. In fact, the patchbox design is very reminiscent of the "Baum" gunsmiths of New Berlin, Snyder County. A George Smith was working in that region at the time. The patchbox does not show any evidence of being a later "add-on". Good condition.
DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN.
