Empire Period, Ca. 1795-1815. Painted and carved wood head and shoulders, short curly “wind-blown” carved and painted brown hair with curls above ears (overall soil and scuffing), carved ears, painted facial features; peg-jointed all- wood body with painted lower arms and legs with green flat-soled slippers. Original tan dress with high waist (some deterioration on sleeves and in front), original slip and shift, also a tan coat with collar lace and ruffle trim. A wonderful early doll, seldom do dolls of this early period survive in such lovely original condition, a true museum piece!
