An interesting variation of the M1903 Springfield rifle. This is a dummy (non-firing) model. These were used for training recruits, not because they did not have enough real ones, but because it was much less costly. Untrained beginners could cost a lot of damage just learning drill and manual arms. This particular one is one of the better quality dummies, as it looks and feels almost like the real thing. An important piece in a serious '03 collection.
