Circa 1550. Beautifully etched scene depicting Venus astride a dolphin, holding a sail, full from the wind and gliding across the waves. Incised line engraved as a border on the outline of the breast plate. Highly pronounced rope borders in neck and armpit areas. Breast plate is very small, had to be made for a child. A large piece of outer lamination peeled off of a pronounced point at bottom of the breast plate. Some wear to the etching, but overall still pleasing. Scattered light pitting, with moderate to heavy pitting in small areas. Very light coats of rust on parts of outer surface, which can be easily cleaned.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).

Item Dimensions: 13 - 1/2" T.
BREAST PLATE FROM A BOYS ARMOR.
