America, ca. 1900, earliest style "Alabama Baby" doll with molded and painted head, painted brown brush-stroked hair and brown eyes, stitched ears, three separate stampings on her abdomen, which is rarely found, stampings include ''No. 1'', the patent date, and ''Mrs. S.S. Smith Manufacturer and Dealer in the Alabama Indestructible Doll Roanoke, Ala.'' Wonderful antique cotton dress with embroidered trim believed to be original.
