School: Western Pennsylvania. Circa 1850 to 1970. Overall length: 51 – 1/2”. Caliber: .30. Barrel length: 36”. Octagonal barrel. Percussion mechanism. Oval patchbox. Curly maple stock. Three brass inlays and six silver inlays, eight are original (one silver inlay is missing). This half stock rifle is in an “untouched” state with wonderful patina on its curly maple stock and also on the silver and brass inlays (one of which is currently missing). The stock has excellent curl and the barrel and lock, marked Bown & Tetley, Pittsburg, are both still in the “white” with a light brown oxidation. Overall, a pleasing patinated rifle in, as found, condition.
