School: Eastern Berks County. Circa 1840 to 1860. Overall length: 52”. Caliber: .36/.30. Barrel length: 36” (swivel breech with two barrels). Original. Octagonal barrel. Percussion mechanism. Side-opening oval patchbox. No carvings and no inlays. This later period swivel breech rifle is in “as found” condition and is without any ornamentation. However, the original finish curly maple buttstock is better than average, and the oval brass side-opening patchbox is a nice feature. Both barrels are still rifled.
UNSIGNED KENTUCKY RIFLE.
