Cast metal. Made by Miller Dubrul & Peters Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Circa 1885. Figure is of an Indian brave with an upraised arm holding a tomahawk. Detailed face and cast clothing. Marked on base "Cast by the Miller Dubruh & Peters Co., Cincinnati & NY Copyright 1885." Crack on one side of the base which has been professionally restored. Repair to left arm. Provenance: Hegarty collection. This figure is in the Cigar Store Figures book by AW Pendergast & W. Porter Wear. Originally found in Clearfield, Pennsylvania and one time resided at the John Stock Tobacco Store. Includes two newspaper articles from the 1960s showing the Indian in front of the store with four men standing in front of it and a black and white photo of the Indian from the Hegarty home.
