Circa 1840 to 1865. Beautifully etched on each side with hunting scenes and buildings. One side depicts hunter on horseback with hounds chasing a stag through the woods and on the other side a hunter on foot with retrievers flushing fowl and a hunter shooting at the birds. Blade has been expertly cleaned with light pitting towards the tip on each side but in no way does it detract from the beautiful etched scenes. Very unusual decor on the German silver mounts, front with abbreviated cross guards, a snarling lion on each side with extended front paws as the cross guards, and the rattlesnake German silver pommel is enhanced with a wild boar running through the woods on each side. Four ivory panels beautifully stained, as was the French style, to a walnut color, leaving the white ivory to depict the design of a horse running through the woods and a dog running through the woods on one side and the game they are chasing depicted on the other side, along with a fox running in one panel and a stag running in another panel. German silver separator on each side with a raised depiction of a single humped camel. Some wear to the staining on the ivory but it in no way detracts from the beauty of the scenes. Lock back style blade is secure.

Condition: (Excellent).
