This lot includes two framed gislee on canvas prints by Frank C. McCarthy "The Dean of Western Action Painters". Highly collected and frequently imitated, Frank McCarthy's works were treasured throughout the works as classic examples of contemporary western art. He was a prestigious member of the Cowboy Artist of America and was inducted into the society of Illustrator's Hall of Fame in 1997. There have been five books printed that feature his artwork. He was also famous for creating outstanding movie posters such as the James Bond series. McCarthy died of lung cancer in 2002. The two gislee prints measure 13-3/8" by 8-7/8", not including frames. The first image features a strung out line of 1870's cavalry with scouts, set against a spectacular background of a canyon and plateaus. The second image features well-armed cowboys in their dusters riding hell-bent for leather amidst plateaus. They are dated 1975 an done appears to be hand signed. Both in excellent condition. The largest piece is an unsigned print, measuring 22-1/2" by 16-1/2" and framed and matted under glass. It features a serene river and woods setting with six Native American Indians in full armed regalia. Print condition is excellent.
