Seldom found doll with two character Jumeau heads, 18", with an incised marking at the bottom of the neck socket on each side with the number "7", on a specially made fully-jointed wooden composition body unique to this head in that it has a voice box in the center with "Mama - Papa" pull strings and a paper mache molded bonnet, which is attached to the torso. At the top of the bonnet underneath the mache and the specially made bonnet, there is a metal hook, and when turned from side to side it reveals the screaming face with tiny narrow eye-cuts as if it were squinting, its mouth obviously screaming with an open/closed expression with lips parted, tongue molded with six molded and painted upper teeth, and as that face turns to the back it exposes the other face with a broad smile, deep dimples, again with the open/closed mouth, six teeth, and with the eye-cuts slightly more open, because she is now under less stress. The top of the head is covered with a hardwood pate and because of the nature of the head is very flat on top, to allow for full movement. The body has its original patina in good condition and on the back of the torso there is an oval-shaped paper label reading "BEBE JUMEAU diplome d'honneur". She wears antique brown leather keystone-type shoes with brown knit socks and antique underwear, a floral print cotton dress with lacy collar, which is well matched to the lace trim bonnets with a blonde mohair fringe wig, which probably only covers the forehead as there is no need to cover the entire head due to the construction of the overall mechanism. CONDITION: Overall very good with no cheek rubs and no damage found.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 18" x 9" x 5".
RARE JUMEAU WITH TWO FACIAL EXPRESSIONS.
