Queen Victoria (British, r. 1837 - 1901) ruled for longer than any previous British monarch and had deep, lasting impacts on her country. From the wardrobe of Queen Victoria are hand-sewn black silk shirtwaist and silk stockings in the eponymous style of the era. The shirtwaist is front buttoned with a 2 - 1/2" black tassel fringe bordering each sleeve. The shirt has a decorative border of silk crepe around the wide neckline, down the bodice and around the half sleeves. Comes with two small pockets. Measurements: 40" wide from sleeve to sleeve, 20 - 1/2" wide in chest area, 20" long. Along with this garment is offered a pair of black silk stockings with white feet and tops. Each stocking has an embroidered Imperial crown of the Queen and the initials "VR." This lot comes with a Secretarial letter from Queen Victoria, dated October 15, 1877, signed by the secretary, as well as acquittance receipts and a book page illustration of Queen Victoria. Condition: Overall excellent condition with very minimal use, almost like new. Provenance: From the personal collection of Dr. J. K. Lattimer.
