A nice example of a traditional Southern Plains Native lance, a sword blade inserted in the wood handle and secured by wrapped leather. The tapered shaft is decorated at the blade with simple tacks. Circa mid 1800s, This lance is likely from the Kiowa or Comanche Indians. 95" long overall and the blade is 17 1/2" (sight).
