The third an early Norton & Son of Bennington, Vermont ovoid jug. Incised "NORTON & SON 2" above a rare underglaze brown decoration of a fruit with stem above a wide leaf. SIZE: First: 14-3/4" h. Second: 12" h. Third: 13-1/2" h. CONDITION: The first with firing discoloration beneath the flower head, and with underglaze indigo splotches beneath design. A shallow flake beneath handle. Otherwise very good. The second with minimal minor spot losses to floral design. Unevenness of stoneware background. Otherwise very good. The third with two depressions below the medial center line from firing. Insignificant burst bubble marks in stoneware sides. Small and minor chips and fleabites along foot rim.
