Wonderful example of a WWII 1943 dated Hamilton AN5740 G.C.T. Navigator Pocket Watch in its original metal carrying case. This type of watch was given the name "Navigator's Watch" as they were used by aviators in all branches of the US Military for navigation purposes. The watch is marked on the reverse as follows: "AN 5740 / MFR'S PART NO. 33106 / SERIAL NO. AF 43- 14856 / CONTRACT NO. W535 ac-40783 / HAMILTON WATCH CO." The watch exhibits most of its original finish with the most wear being displayed on the back over the markings where the watch lays in the carrying case. The watch is functioning as the second hand moves and the watch ticks when the dial is pushed. The minute and hour arrows wind when the button is turned to the left or right. The rear case plate opens with ease and closes tightly. The inside of the watch is very clean and all parts are properly marked. The metal carry case opens and closes properly and retains its original manufacture plate attached to the front. The case was designed to hold the watch and protect it from damage and vibrations that might take place in an aircraft flying in combat. The suspension springs are still in good condition and the watch can be securely held in place. The glass viewing panel is in good condition and the cover opens and closes properly. The case retains most of its original paint as there are scratches from use. CONDITION: Overall Good. JD
