British Martini Henry MK II Upgrade single shot rifle. Made 1877 at the Enfield factory as a Mark I rifle before being upgraded to MK II variation circa 1878-1880. Right side of the frame is marked "ENFIELD / 1877 / (Crown) / II / 2". British proofs on the left side of the barrel, on the loading lever, and frame. Nepalese markings under the rear sight, on the left side of the barrel. Right side of the stock has various regiment markings, in addition to Nepalese markings and a faint "II/1894" probably indicating the year it entered Nepalese service. Round barrel with blade front sight and rear sight adjustable to 1200 meters. Original finish on the metal components, forming a natural overall patina. Oil finished wood stocks with a smooth metal butt plate. Includes socket bayonet with leather scabbard. Bayonet lacks markings. Scabbard has Nepalese markings on the brass plate. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish, with a heavy gray patina forming on most of the components. There is some very light areas of freckling as well. Wood has numerous handling marks and scratches. Bore has some frosting, with very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. Bayonet is fair with a heavy brown patina forming on most areas. Leather scabbard is fair as well with heavy crazing on the leather, and tarnish on the brass. A very nice example of a Nepalese Martini. JWA
