(A) CASED COLT SECOND MODEL 1855 ROOT SIDEHAMMER PERCUSSION REVOLVER.

Made 1855 through 1870, this is a Model 2 with the octagon barrel, pointed hand, Hartford address, Indian cabin cylinder scene, with the high polish blue finish, case color hammer, varnished two piece walnut grips, and spur trigger. It is period cased housing the small eagle powder flask, a Colt marked two cavity brass mold, a bright blue L-wrench, wood cleaning rod, and cap tin. CONDITION: Very good to fine. The frame still retains the majority of its bright blue including the back strap. Half of the cylinder has a fairly strong scene and some blue but other have has light salt and pepper texture where it rested. The barrel exhibits strong legends but has drifted to a smooth patina. The hammer is still bright with some color. Mechanically sound with a bold, lightly frosted bore. The case has a crack in lid. The flask is nicely toned.
