Twigg is recorded as working between 1755 and 1792 and is highly regarded as one of the foremost gun makers of his time. These turnbarrel boxlock pistols are in identical configuration with turn off screw barrels, boxlock actions, simple line engraved hammers, English push on safeties. Right sides of actions with "Twigg" in a playful reserve and arrows at four corners, left sides with "London" and arrows at four corners. London proofs on underside of barrels. Slabside walnut grips. Trigger guards with single floral. Housed in a contemporary walnut case with blue lining with a J. Burch trade label in lid and accessories comprising Sykes bag flask, bullet mold with sprue cutter. CONDITION: Brass retains a pleasing patina with a few deeper bumps and bruises throughout. Grips are very good with a few bumps and bruises. Accessories are very good, flask with no seam separation and a few pings; spring with oxidation. Bullet mold essentially gunmetal grey. Trade label heavily foxed and stained. A neat lot with a desirable pair of Twiggs. EW
