1882 vintage Colt Model 1878 Double Action Frontier. 4" barrel without ejector rod housing. Chambered in .45 Long Colt. Two piece black hard rubber grips, checkered with rampant Colt motif. Nickel with fire blue screws, trigger, back of hammer, and cylinder rod. Masterfully custom engraved featuring foliate scrolls with a punch dot background. Name of engraver or date of engraving is unknown. CONDITION: Excellent plus as restored. 99% of the reapplied nickel finish remaining. Grips are excellent showing little wear. Bore is fine with light abrasion. Double action functions well however, will not remain cocked at single action. Overall a most attractive custom rendition of a rare blackpowder Model 1878. -MKS-
