Factory letter confirms the present features with the stocks and barrel length not listed; during this era standard grips were varnished walnut and standard barrel length was 7-1/2". Letter states this revolver shipped October 31st, 1876 in a shipment of 50 guns to B. Kittredge & Co, Cincinnati, Ohio. This revolver has matching serial numbers on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, bottom of barrel, and cylinder. This is an extremely early, scarce, all matching civilian Colt, originally in blue and case color finish with walnut grips. When ejector shroud is removed, there is evidence of original blue underneath barrel. CONDITION: Gun is basically blue-grey patina with some wiped on later finish to smooth it out. Has the early featured donut head ejector. Front sight has been taken down a bit. Walnut grips were refinished in oil instead of varnish, slightly shy to metal. Evidence of polishing on screw heads. Cylinder pin slightly marred from removal. Slight wear to barrel address from polishing and reapplication of finish. Some light salt and pepper on frame and spotting on cylinder. A strong, clean, early rifled bore. Nice looking, very early, Colt civilian.
