Manufactured circa 1873 from left over percussion parts and purpose built barrels. This example is one of approximately 6,000 made with a 3 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .38 rimfire with 2-line Hartford address. Cone front sight and hammer notch rear. Rebated 5-shot cylinder rollmarked with stagecoach holdup scene. Frame marked on left with 2-line "PAT. JULY, 25, 1871. / PAT. JULY, 2, 1872" marking. Nickel finish throughout with case hardened rimfire hammer and nitre blued small parts. Brass straps and trigger guard bearing "36 CAL" marking and fit with smooth walnut 1-piece grips. Visible serial numbers match. BAS
