Kentucky style rifle attributed to Leonard Reedy, Berks County, Pennsylvania working from 1794 to 1835. Full octagon smoothbore barrel with blade front sight and notched rear fixed sight with no markings on barrel. Full curly maple stock with brass furniture including a 4 piece brass patchbox with Reedy style finial and two rivet catch on lid. 1 - 7/8" wide brass buttplate with patchbox release in center similar to those used by Reedy, Bonewitz, and Fitchthorn. Stock architecture does not resemble Reedy, nor does the trigger guard, which both lean towards further west than Berks County guns having a "Roman Nose" profile. Silver crescent moon inlay on cheek and silver thumbpiece. Brass sideplate and ramrod pipes are similar to those used by Reedy. Flint lock marked "London Warranted" controlled by a single trigger. Comes with threaded tip hardwood rod. CONDITION: Metal has aged patina with some surface corrosion and discoloration with evidence that the rifle has been reconverted with barrel showing heavier pitting around touchhole. Lock is a replacement that fits mortise near perfectly. Wood has burnout around tang from use as a percussion rifle. Rifle appears to have been a period restock using Reedy parts. Dark pitted bore with function mechanics. DLM
