(A) FLINTLOCK SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN BY BOHM, ASCHAFFENBURG
This fine German double barrel shotgun was made in Aschaffenburg. Aschaffenburg is located in Bavaria, Germany near the River Main. The gun features twin barrels with full flat top. Signed "P. Bohm in Ascaffenburg" inlaid in silver surrounded by silver inlaid scrollwork. Hooked breech. Twin casehardened and silver inlaid locks signed "P. Bohm". Gold lined touchholes, waterproof pans and roller frizzens. Silver wrist escutcheon with bird on top and "AA" monogram. Double triggers and a wood triggerguard inlaid on bottom with brass strip. Iron sling swivels. Circasian walnut stock with shaped brass buttplate and checkered wrist and forestock. Oval cheekpiece on left side of buttstock. Original brass-tipped wood ramrod. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain generous amounts of thinning blue mixed with light grey patina. Locks retain faded case colors. Locks are strong, function well and are in original, flintlock configuration. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. Triggerguard with some minor chipping. Stock shows a few light scattered marks.
