Sold from 1878 to 1912, all frames manufactured prior to 1899. Reapplied blued finish throughout. Standard ribbed top break barrel with 2-line Smith & Wesson address and patent marking, half moon front sight, and u-notch rear. 6-shot fluted cylinder chambered in .44 Russian. Round butt frame fitted with 2-piece diamond checkered walnut grips and lanyard loop. Smith & Wesson letter indicates that it shipped to Takata & Company, Yokohama, Japan, as agents for the Japanese government, and further confirms configuration, including noting that the lanyard loop appears factory as a large number of No. 3s were equipped with them. CONDITION: Good. Virtually all of the reapplied finish is retained throughout. Grips are very good with only light impressions. Especially fine mirror bore with well defined rifling. Indexes correctly. Latch in need of adjustment.
