Lot consists of (A) Octagonal barrel to round barrel with double wedding bands at girdle. Breech deeply stamped with three sets of triple fleur de lis, a Crown over an R, and a gold filled "FACR / DI / NAP". Stockel does not offer a maker name that uses this touchmark. Lock has same Crown over R and "A.P" roughly incised on interior. No provision for sights. Pistol was converted to percussion at one point, but drum was filled and redrilled with a new touchhole. Simple ramrod that feeds into a beaded mouth. Simple brass strap delineates wooden stock from horn nosecap. Simple brass furniture with curled tail trigger. CONDITION: Good. Metal has acquired a smooth patina throughout. Brass is a pleasing mustard color. Wood is very good with some handling marks and what appears to be an extra layer of protected varnish applied. One crack at ramrod mouth that appears stable and one split at wrist that runs completely through and was repaired. Horn with some insect damage. Action works appropriately, bore is good. Research into the markings should prove fruitful. (B) Prussian 1850 Cavalry pistol as made by Valentin Christian Schilling at Suhl and dated 1871 over the breech. Characteristic cannon muzzle, nipple protector, and brass furniture with ergonomic trigger guard. Simple notch and blade sights, breech with appropriate Crown proof and serial number, 1164. Lock marked "(Crown) / Suhl / V.C.S". CONDITION: Very good. Metal has acquired a nice chocolate patina with some oil staining to yellow visible in protected areas. Brass is starting to tone. Cock is an incorrect replacement that lacks the correct geometry to strike nipple. Stock is good with some marks throughout and some chipping around lock (including one rather large chip at rear), and along front strap of grip. Cock will not hold, may be an issue due to replacement, action otherwise works appropriately. Bore is very good with some oxidation throughout. EW
