Side by side "cape gun" made by L. Smith & Son Pittston, Pennsylvania circa 1870. 28 -3/4" steel side by side barrels with hooked breeches, left barrel a .40 caliber rifled barrel and right a 16 gauge smoothbore; smooth wide rib, rifle sights, and engraved breech. Back action percussion locks marked "L. SMITH & SON / PITTSTON, PA" with double trigger control. Plain walnut 1-piece half stock with steel hardware and pewter nosecap. Comes with original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with left hammer and screw replaced, metal turning a silvery patina. Stock has traces of original finish with usage marks and dings. Good bores and functioning mechanics.
