New England fowler built by an unknown gunsmith. 63 -1/2" overall length with 47 - 1/2" half octagon barrel with a .66 caliber smooth bore with a flat sighting plane, raised floral design carved in relief at the breech, and rifle sights with rear sight wings of brass. Re-converted unmarked flint lock with single trigger control and pierced steel sideplate. Full-length walnut stock with decorated iron over the comb buttplate. Brass ramrod ferrules and shield-type silver thumbpiece. Hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall fair with metal turning a silvery patina with barrel showing an area that looks to have had a sight brazed on and now removed. The lock is a conversion. The wood has been cleaned with a 4" section near the muzzle replaced. Pitted dark bore; lock does not hold cock.
