Belgian manufactured musket in the style of the French Model 1777 musket. Rounded smoothbore barrel with faceted breech stamped with oval Liege proofmark "E/LG/*" on top, near tang. Flat lockplate with rounded tail section, reinforced cock, and brass pan. Stamped with small Belgian proof in front of cock. Full-length plain walnut stock of typical form, with cheek rest recessed into left side of buttstock, right side stamped with several sets of initials and numbers, as well as a cartouche and a larger, deeply branded "95", possibly regimental and rack numbers. Standard Model 1777 style steel furniture, with the exception of the flat sideplate. Three barrel bands stamped with crown over "W" proofs, sideplate marked "*/C" and triggerguard bow and buttplate tang marked "118". Steel ramrod. Complete with unmarked triangular socket bayonet. Excellent condition, all steel components retain a spotted grey patina with sharp edges and very good markings. Stock very good with some scattered marks from use. Bayonet retains a spotted grey patina with some freckling. This is a nice and well-marked Napoleonic era musket in above average condition!
