Made in 1879 with Damascus barrels that have plain concave top rib with makers name and address and small brass front bead. The splinter forend is checkered in standard early D Grade pattern with Deeley latch release that is lightly engraved and steel tip with border engraving. Inside of forearm iron has been blued. The lifter action is engraved in typical Grade III pattern, most likely by Glahn, with dogs on sides and in game scene on trigger guard surrounded by open shaded scroll in about 40% coverage. The round knob ball grip stock is checkered in point pattern with tear drop behind locks and terminates with a lightly engraved skeleton steel buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as partially restored. Barrels retain nearly all of their deeply defined renewed Damascus pattern. Action has toned mostly gray, engraving is still fully visible. Stocks are sound and retain most of an older restored finish with some minor handling marks. Bores with orange peel throughout. Mechanics are fine. These early graded lifter guns don't come along very often and this gun has a very nice look to it. JSL
