Caliber .58 bore, Barrel length 33” Type 4 alteration has the Model 1855 rear sight and the rifle projecting bayonet stud. Barrel is marked “NJ” for New Jersey militia. Stock has two perfect inspector cartouches. Barrel has the “V.P.” Eagle and “W.W.P.” Rear tang is dated 1851, lock is stamped “Harper’s Ferry 1848” with the U.S. Eagle, two brass barrel bands, brass trigger guard, butt plate and patch box. Patch box compartment has an original nipple replacement and iron worm. All metal furniture finished in the white with light tarnish. Legends are as sharp as new. Original sling swivels. Other than some minor bumps and bruises this fine percussion rifle shows little to no use with a near mint bore and original brass tipped rod. One of the nicest examples we have seen.
