Circa 1927. A vintage London Best, handsome 12 bore game gun with London Nitro proofed, chopper lump 27" blacked steel barrels. Barrels are currently appointed with 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors, narrow, tapered, smooth and concave rib. Rib is fit with a round steel front bead sight and reads "BOSS & CO., 13, DOVER STREET, PICADILLY, LONDON ENGLAND.". Bottoms of barrels marked with guns serial number "7573". Barrel flats with London proofs and stamped for 1 - 1/8". Fixed chokes are Improved Cylinder and Skeet. The older case colored patina sidelock action with Boss & Co. signature Rose bouquets and Scroll with company name "BOSS & Co." at bar is built with gold line cocking indicators and disk set strikers. Water table with proofs and guns serial number "7573". Black top lever with light scroll has checkered thumb piece. Action is auto-safe and with a serrated safe slide. "SAFE" is in gold in between the top lever and safe slide. Bladed double triggers are protected by a blacked right hand rolled edged trigger guard. Trigger guard extends to a long bottom strap with fine scrolls and the guns serial number "7573". The deep red, brown walnut stock with straight lines and light marbling has been designated with drop points, English straight hand checkered grip and gold oval with the initials "J.A.M." (J.A. Morgan) engraved in a shaded block style. Buttstock is checkered. The small splinter forend is finely checkered with an English flat top style. The Anson styled push button release is checkered and escutcheon, pin and iron metal is engraved with scrolls. Interior iron metal is blacked and the guns serial number is engraved. Gun comes in a vintage leather sleeve. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain mostly all of their black with 90% black with some light discoloration close to muzzle right barrel. Bores are shiny. Action is good, ejectors are strong and triggers are crisp to pull. Stock is good with some handling and usage marks. Forend is good with handling marks and with older slight chip to right edge. Gun sleeve is worn and good. Nice vintage London Best game gun. CP
