Manufactured in 1915 according to Madis. This highly desirable carbine features a blued 15" trapper length nickel steel barrel with full length magazine tube, pinned blade front sight, and flip up ladder rear missing the elevator. Iconic saddle ring receiver. Correct short 8" carbine forend. Plain walnut stock with carved "HS" initials and carbine butt plate. Accompanied by a detailed ATF exemption letter removing this gun by serial number from the provisions of the NFA Act. Lot also includes a Red Head leather scabbard. CONDITION: Fair, displaying honest Western character as was found in California. Barrel and magazine tube retain significant traces of thinning factory blue in the protected areas, the balance turned to silvery brown patina. Receiver has faded to a freckled gray patina with wear. Wood has a dry aged patina with heavy handling marks, dings, and abrasions throughout, as well as splits at the tang, wrist, and forend tip. Strong frosted bore. Good mechanics.
