Factory research states this rifle was shipped October 7th, 1905 as a .30 caliber rifle with half octagon 22" barrel, extra light, with plain trigger, checkered stock, pistol grip, Lyman front and rear sights, rubber shotgun butt, takedown and 3/4 magazine. Lyman front sight has been replaced with a King blade. The rear sight is a two leaf express folding sight. Tang sight added. Otherwise, all specifications on letter match rifle. Barrel and magazine tube retain 85% original blue; balance simply thinning to a grey-blue, giving a much higher percentage appearance. Takedown ring is gun metal grey. Frame retains approximately 85% bright Winchester blue, thinning at base from carry. Lever and hammer are basically gun metal grey with no visible color. Stock is excellent to near mint, proud to metal, with extra fancy finish, sharp checkering, black composite Winchester cap and plate; and extra fancy crotch pattern on right side. 98% bolt blue. 75% Nitre blue on loading gate. Strong, clean rifled bore and fine action.
