Made in 1927 on a No. 1 frame with 28" Acme Steel barrels that have concave matted top rib with steel front bead and engraved legend. There are small rings of floral engraving at breech ends of barrels, and barrel flats with Parker proof marks and unstruck barrel weight of 3 lbs 5 oz along with a small "6" stamp near ejectors. Splinter forend is near fully checkered with full engraved iron, Deeley release, and steel tip. Case hardened action is near fully engraved with a setter and pointer in game scene on each side along with two ducks on floor plate all surrounded by well executed Parker scroll engraving. Top lever and top tang are also nicely scroll engraved with fully checkered safety. Made with double triggers, auto ejectors auto safety. The straight grip buttstock is beautifully checkered through the wrist with fleur-de-lis behind action and checkered side panels and terminates with a blued and engraved skeleton buttpalte. Trigger guard bow with beautiful gold inlaid initials "CB" in oval surrounded by scroll and tang with serial number and scroll engraving to match. CONDITION: Excellent as restored and customized. We believe this gun has been masterfully upgraded from a Grade 5 (BHE) to a Grade 6 (AHE) based on micro-welding on the water table. The barrels retain more than 97% expertly restored blue. The action retains more than 60% of an expert quality, near indistinguishable from original, restored case color. The stocks are sound and excellent and retain nearly all of their custom finish with crisp checkering. The buttstock varnish is lifting a bit towards the butt, more so on right side than left. Forend is excellent with crisp checkering and retains nearly all of its custom finish. The custom trigger guard retains about 90% of its custom blue finish which again is factory quality work. Bores are brilliant and shiny, mechanics are crisp. This gun would make an amazing upland gun. The quality of the upgrade work on this gun is indistinguishable from original and this gun is a masterpiece in many ways. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. JSL
